Kantha referring to “patched cloth” is the tradition of producing these unique, quilted blankets. The idea is to make something useful and beautiful out of discarded items. It’s quilting Indian style- The throws are each unique, combining fabric remnants mainly from old saris that are artfully pieced together and then hand stitched with occasional embroidered touches. This small, straight running stitch in commonly found in Bengali embroidery. The cotton material is super soft due to its years of use. The throws give a nice warm vintage look- great for comfortable styling or a relaxed cottage vibe. The piece includes colors of purples, blues some greens and white with a red embroidered trim.
