Recycled Sari Kaftan

140,00 120,00

This kaftan is made from handwoven 100% organic cotton material from a group of women weaver’s I found during my last trip to India. The organisation’s name is Taanbaan which works to promote the handspun handloom vocation which is currently under threat from mass production. The materials they create hope to preserve the skills, aesthetic sense and traditions of India while encouraging fair trade and the women’s place in the work force. The unique fabrics are created with natural dyes and hand spun threads. During my visit I went through various saris that were slightly damaged and we decided to turn them into unique kaftan garments since the fabric was too amazing to toss. These are one-off pieces with amazing details from the sari material. It’s real stunner for next vacation!

This garment falls around the mid calf ¬†with slits up the knee to give you a little more freedom. It’s amazingly soft and absorbent if used poolside. The fabric is sheer with a V-neckline. As the fabric is sheer and has flow it’s generous around the bust and waist so fits many sizes. Perfect for lounging around the house/cottage, to the beach and also walking around town. A great boho look!
