Suzani Bedcover on Vintage Kantha 5
The word Suzani is derived from the Persian suzan, meaning “needle.” These hand-embroidered textiles originated in Central Asia, where they were traditionally crafted by nomadic tribes. Often made in panels and passed down through generations, Suzanis were used as bed linen, prayer mats, tablecloths, and wall hangings — an integral part of nomadic life.
This newly made piece is embroidered with an array of lively flowers on top of a vintage kantha cotton base, giving it both texture and history. Each stitch echoes the artistry of the women who have carried these traditions forward.
Ideal as a vibrant bedcover for a single bed or styled lengthwise across a double. Also beautiful as a throw on a sofa or layered at the foot of the bed.
